Just joined the forum as (hopefully) about to get my 1st V8. Have looked today at a very tidy TVR 350i fitted with a 4.6 engine supplied by V8 Developments of Spalding, Lincs. The engine is running the original flapper system and it has not been upgraded from the original 3.5 engine. When I test drove the car it had serious flat spots at 3500 & 4500 rpm. I am quite taken with the rest of the car but this is throwing all my thoughts out of the window. Is this a "normal" fault and does the flapper system throw up a few known of problems? Ultimately any TVR Wedge I buy will be upgraded up to tb's and mappable fuel/ignition as I fitted them on my Westfield and was impressed by the change in driveability (and extra power) offered by the conversion but I wouldn't want to be doing this conversion straight away

Flapper injection does have it's faults, but if the system hasn't been upgraded to suit the 4.6 it'll need a few mods

Would suggest as a start FSI fuel regulator (to increase fuelling pressure/response @ £70 and an uprated ECU e.g. a Mark Adams ECU with a tuning session on a rolling road (find them on fleabay from time to time @ £200)

Having spent some time with Rob at V8 Developments I know if you rang him he would soon tell you about the setup if it is one of his. As you say, the flapper is far from ideal and shouldnt really fuel that size engine, but if you are going to change it for ITB's etc then the problem isnt going to be there,
