Remote oil filter & plumbing

I have a Mocal remote oil filter for my Rover V8 and want to ensure I'm going to plumb it in the correct way.
The Sandwich plate is bolted to the engine with the two pipes coming from it.
Does the pipe closer to the rear of the engine join to the filter housing so it feeds down through the middle of the filter or down the outer.
The filter housing has a few marks next to where the pipes fasten, one side has a grid of small squares and the other has a little cross type shape.
Hope this makes ome sense, it does in my head but in writing loks like nonsense.

Can you not just match up inner to inner & outer to outer?
Chris.

As the cover plate is on the engiine and dont want to split the gasket was not sure which one would be the outer and what would be inner.
Guessing that the one to rea of engine might be the outer.
Just hoped somebody may be able to confirm.
On a an oil filter normally does the oil enter through the center or from the edge, that might give me a bit of a lead.

Flow through the remote filter is vitally important that it is correct. The filter head will be marked for direction of flow.
From memory, oil flows into the filter via the outer holes, and then to the engine from the centre hole.
If you get it wrong on a RV8.....due to the stupid placement of the OA oil pressure take off, you will still show good pressure on a gauge ( unless you read off the actual oil galleries )
And believe me....if you get it wrong, and drive for long enough ( ignoring slight noises lol ) the damage can be quite severe LOL
I wasnt laughing then !

The TVR Wedges have a remote oil filter. If you ask on here I'm sure some of the boys will point you in the right direction & take some pics.

Hi
I have a diagram showing the in and out on a MOCAL oil pump cover, but am unable to post a picture of it.
If you have the same plate PM me your email and I'll send a picture to you.
Stu.

In simple terms. Oil flows into the outside of the filter, and exits the middle then onto the oil galleries.
