Any one know how I can get my tacho working properly again, I have a TVR now running with an Autronic SM-4, my limited research shows I need a converter possibly an MSD but can't find where to get one in the UK any thoughts

Real Steel do MSD tacho adapters. Whether this is what you want or not I have no idea. I would contact Autronic to be sure. What age TVR is it and what ignition setup are you using? Even if its a multi coil you can supply the tacho direct from the coils with a few diodes.

Doesnt your SM-4 have a tacho output ???

If its an older style tacho it wont read the nice square pulse the tacho output gives. I assume that's what he is on about anyway. If its really old it wont read a pulse at all as it will be current sensing and an adapter inst going to fix that. There wasn't any answers to my questions tho so I cant be specific.

If you still have a dizzy fitted, use its normal output just to fire the tacho.

Originally in my green car, which used to be a V6. I fitted a 6 tooth trigger to the RV8 dizzy, and used that solely to fire my Ford tacho.

When I switched to LS1, I had to sort it via another method as there was no dizzy anymore.
That said, upon my request DTA software now allows user configurable tacho outputs.
ie, you can fire any cylinder rev counter from any engine ( more or less )

The rev counter seems to have a mind of its own, I have a friend in Norway with an Autronic on his Griff and he has used an MSD unit. I have just ordered one from Real Steel.
