Modifying for a 4.6

What mods would be needed to get a 4.6 running on a hotwire or a flapper system. I believe a rising rate fuel pressure reg is needed for flapper, what else would be needed. It is for a 110 auto for travelling, so wont be needed to rev, bottom end is more important.
I would prefer a system that is as much out of the box as possible so want to compare each system to decide which would be best for me. Thanks

My suggestion would be to fit a stock Hotwire system, and just swap the ECU for a mappable one.

The rising rate regulator is just a bodge and isn't necessary if the ECU is mappable.

so would a mappable ECU need playing with or can it be run out of the box?

If you could find somebody who'd already made a map, then it would run out of the box. Otherwise you'd have to map it.

Although I've never done it, if you buy a commercial ECU they ought to offer a mapping process with it (e.g. rolling road session)

Have you tried any of the Landie forums?, I would think somebody has already done what you are planning....

Thanks Guys, I use ORRP and Outer Limits mostly, I know it has been done but it is hard to find someone who has done it who will talk about it. I have heard that drilling the flap in the flapper can fool the ecu, but it seems like an urban myth, everyone has heard about it but no-one knows more than that. I think it will be a matter of experimenting with the flapper and if it doesnt work well then going back to carbs. Cheers

If you really don't want to or cant go mappable ECU then IMHO you would be far better off using a holey or Webber carb than trying to bodge a flapper system to a 4.6. You will be much much happier with the results. The injectors alone could cause problems on a 4.6 and they aren't the same fit as 90 odd % of the injectors on the market and might well prove too small.

Paul,

You could have a word with VEMS as they have a NZ branch.
