5L TVR ECU in 14CUX on a 4.6 V8???

Would a Rover 4.6 V8 work with a 14CUX Hotwire injection system, with a TVR 5L ECU (14CUX) on it? It would be used for off-road racing so we'd need lots of power and fuel, but would it be too much?

Anyone tried it?

Want to go down the MS route but also wanting a backup / something to get us started with. Don't want to go down the Mark Adams/Others route.

Cheers!

It would work, but how close the fuel map would be I don't know.

Cheers,

Any ideas which type of 14CUX can have the chip changed?

Now that I don't know I'm afraid. I think most people go for VEMS or something like that instead of modding the standard ECU.

Does anyone offer the service of changing a 14CUX from one that doesn't accept a new chip into one that does?

Cheers

Just found this writen by Mark Adams!
There are two families of Lucas 14CUX ECUs. Before you place your order we need to check which type you have, so please contact us first. All original TVR supplied ECUs have "plug-in" chips, with the appropriate socket fitted. If the ECU is not original (e.g. replaced by a Land Rover standard version to fix a fault) then it may not have a socket, so in this case it will be necessary to have a socket fitted to receive the new chip. We can arrange this for you at a small cost, but again it is essential that you contact us first.

But how can I tell if one I buy can or can't???

Ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!

from that it is possible but a socket may need to be added which would cost extra, they may know numbers for which do or dont if you contact them. Are you in the UK or US, your profile doesnt show it?

Sorry, I'm in the UK, Leicester.

I have just got a 5.0 ECU with chip in it, so the 5.0 chip is now going if anyone is interested?

hi i dont know whether this helps or not but my 4.0tvr was running weak at top end so i borrowed a mates 5.0ltr ecu and it helped but was not perfect. so instead of having my chip re-chipped, at great cost (buying the chip having mark chip it on a rolling road, paying for wotever else he finds wrong and paying third party for the use of their rolling road everytime you modify), i went down the new ecu route which also gets rid of the restrictive airflow meter (standard afm restrictive above 160bhp larger bosh type restrictive above 200bhp) like i said this is just my opinion but one shared by the many who have already got rid of the antiquated lucas system.

Or keep the 14CUX and add a Unichip which allows fueling adjustments to be made on a dyno.
