Hello all, new to the site looks like i`ve got a lot of reading to do. The plan is to put the recently aquired rv8 from an ex-police van into my vw panel van. Am slowly gathering all the parts required just waiting for my adpter to turn up from the U.S

I took the V8 from an ex-police van and stuck it in a different van.

OK, I fitted it into a smaller version of the same van and fitted EFi to the engine too, but you can get an idea from the pics what's involved......
Good luck!
Chris.

Thanks for the welcome gents, I have a good deal of plumbing to do on my van yet as it was previously aircooled but am getting all parts from a T25 diesel pick-up, water pipes radiator heater matrix ect. I have had nothing to with V8`s in the past so it`s a learning curve me. I have lots of stupid newbee questions, such as there seems to be a highly eroded pipe that runs from each head back into the old airbox, these pipes are wrecked and just fall aprt,do i need to replace them or can i just blank them up??, If this is a daft question then appologies,
Danny

I did contemplate the flat 6 route but funds do not allow such extravigance, plus i love the V8 burble.
This is the kind of thing i`m after.

Probably need some pics of this corroded pipe. Sounds like some emissions stuff which can all be blanked off, but it might be a breather which needs fixing!

I think that it is emmisions gubbins, there are 4 small pipes that are tapped into the heads beside each plug socket, and converge into a largerer pipe which was at one point had rubber hose going to the air box.
If they can be blocked off any suggestions on best method?

Definitely is emissions stuff from your description.
I would take out the piece that screws into the head, weld it up, and screw it back in.

it's a system called "PULSEAIR" , it was fitted to ldv v8's but only the ones with solex carbs
it's used to bleed air into the exhaust port which is to dilute the exhaust gases and reduce emmisions .. they now fit it to a lot of big bike engines and quite a lot of cars ...it's the same type of system that is fitted to ford zetecs too
probably the easiest way is to tap the holes in the head and screw a bolt in ....thats what i did on my Hayabusa
