The Sd1 type remote/extension, as you all know, places the gear stick too far back between the seats when used in most conversions. Other than shaping the stick to bring it further forward are there any other bolt on solutions?

The LT77 remote from a Sherpa van is much shorter. I believe the remote from a Jag is too.

The Sherpa remote is approx 7" shorter than the standard SD1 remote and bolts straight on. The problem is they are pretty rare these days.
One went on ebay for £130 just before christmas!......
Probably a better bet (and cheaper) to shorten your existing one like this guy?

That's excellent guys. Thanks for the info - had thought about cutting and shutting the extension but hadn't really looked into how to do it - as I'm working to a fairly tight budget that'll probably be the way I go.
Cheers
