Should be an easy one, What is the shortest oil filter that can be fitted to the SDi pump???? I seem to remember I used a Renault 5 on something, could have been a Rover?

Is SD1 different to P6? Was a short Pinto one on the Victor, cos of space. P6 pump though.

Pump base is, one has the filter out forewards and one is sideways to the engine

I have this vague recollection that I fitted a Sierra Cosworth filter to mine in about 1993. Can't quite be sure which flavour though. It was about 2 inches deep.

I just visited the motor factors and asked for the shortest one they had with the same threads.

I know you can fit a Cosworth filter. Pretty sure you can use Renault 5 too as I remember someone saying once that they did. In fact, many filters do have the same thread size. I have a pretty short filter made by Coopers - will measure it tonight and let you know the part number too if I can find it.

Pretty sure Fram do a short filter for a cossie Ian. Will ask my cossie cousin and try to get a part No.

v6 essex capri use a short filter and it fits SD1,
i have used them on my capri before when using an oil plate to give clearance.

4x4 Cossie filter is pretty short. No idea what thread it is though.

Just checked mine and it is a Coopers Z501, measuring 2.5"

Does a smaller oil filter have the same flow capacity as a standard (big) filter? I remember a friend killing a 327 by fitting a smaller oil filter.

Im running a baby Citreon oil filter on my LS1......

Seems to be working ok there. Its about 3" diam, and 3.5" tall.....

Thats the size that comes on them.
