Hi folks,

Been a bit slow, but just re registered having been on the old forum.

I'm in the process of twin turbocharging my Rover V8 and am in the process of starting to ditch the distributor based system in favour of coil packs and trigger wheel.

This obviously means the dizzy can go, but I need the bottom part to drive the oil pump. I can't cut it below the clamp section for obvious reasons, so how far up is the general concensous that will be ok.

Just done the same to my dissy, If I could get my phone to transfer its pics to the computer, it would be easy to explain, if you remove the shaft and look inside the casing you will see a bronze bush top and bottom, you need to keep these as they maintain the shaft concentricity and position to the drive gear, I just trimmed it back to where I could easily mount it in a lathe and turm the body down just to make it tidy and concentric, the shaft needs to be machined so it is 5 thou longer than the body and drilled and tapped so a retaing plate and screw can be installed to stop the shaft dropping out when installing the assy,
I built a seperate oiling system into the shaft by fitting a O ringed cover over the shaft which is fed via a feed from the pump, and have made a different method of retaining the assy, But thinking about the shaft retention there shouldednt be a problem thit counterboreing the dissy body and bearing 10mm so a retaining bolt and washer can be fitted so a dust cover can be fitted to the top of the body to stop crap entering the bearing and destroying it, Perhaps even a small core plug may work and look reasonably neat,
If I can get the camera sussed out I will post some pics, but dont count on it,

I've heard of the additional oil feed to the dizzy as a mod, but do you think it's essential?

Dunno if its esential, but I managed knacker a timing gear and engine primarilarly down to Timing gear wear, so I have made a fixture that will feed oil down onto the dissy gear thru a hole I have drilled down the side of both bearings so hopefully the oil will fall onto the gear and spray out onto the rest of the timimg gear,
