Jim of JRV8 sells complete engines to a lot of kit car people, they are "turnkey" engines that end up in Pilgrim Sumo's (cobra replicas).

He logs onto this forum, I'm sure that he could sort you out a long engine or complete one.

HTH,

Pete

Ditto again for Jim.

Think his username is jrv8, although a websearch on that same name will pick up his website.

I would think if your budget is £2K you should be able to build a nice 3.5 engine.
You won't have a fire breathing rev monster but it should get you a good bottom end with a new valve train and a pair of overhauled stage 1 heads on freshened up EFI. Shop carefully and make the most of Ebay and that is is a healthy budget.

The same name is coming up because he is a good guy to deal with! :D

Jim can advise you on what tuning bits to go for once he knows sort of power you need, (top end, low down grunt etc).

I have also delt with V8 Developments, they know their stuff. (I've got their stage III heads and they did a very nice job on them)

Tuning for these lumps follows the normal path of cam, manifold, carb, EFI, flowed and skimmed heads, that sort of stuff.

I would strongly recommend that you get a copy of Des Hammills tuning book, once you've read that you will be in a very good position to talk "turkey" to any of the tuners mentioned on this forum. The stuff about bad blocks is worth knowing. The 3.5 does not suffer from this as bad as the larger lumps but as you are racing your lump is worth knowing about main bearing caps fretting.
