ok i have a tr87 with a v8 fitted from a p6

car was running fine now went to it the other day and non runner, checked the spark and nothing. as its a transplant i need some help to narrow down the fault please. i have a coil mounted on top of an electronic ignition unit made by lucas, it has the following wires, white, 2xwhite/grey and a white black coming out from it. these are connected to the coil with a 12v supply into the + side of the coil. from the dizzy i have 2 wires which plug into the bottom of the electronic unit. my question is how do i find out which part is faulty. how can i test each item and is there a cheap way to replace the electronic unit with some other item. please any help would be appreciated as i a realy stuck as to what to try next. if anyone has a good old points dizzy for sale it would be appreciated

I check things like that out by substituting parts, but I've made sure both of my V8's run the same ignition system.

I don't know how you'd check the individual components though.

ideally you need an oscilloscope to check the switching of the low tension circuit.

Im led to believe with lucas ignition systems - amps often fail, coils rarely fail.
