What's it do exactly, does it work, and can I ditch it and blank off the holes!!!!

I believe it adds air into the exhaust gases to help the emissions.

Yes you can ditch it, and blank off the extra ports in the head.

It was an emissions thing. You can remove (probably works better as a result!).

You can buy bolts to block the holes off but they are quite tricky to find. If you look at past threads, there is someone on here who can supply them.

Other alternative, as I did, is to remove the pipes and then weld up the top of the plugs that go in the cyliunder head (having removed them first )

We have blanking plugs in stock for these pulsair ports.
These are the original items, and are flush fitting grub screws that will not get in the way of any aftermarket exhaust manifolds.

just picked up my rover v8 and it has the air pipes on,
this is the first rover v8 i've owned and was surprised to see them fitted,
i've always been a small block chevy guy and lots of them had AIR fitted,

so, my question is, what cars were they fitted to?
the head number is :
erc 0216 x
4 e652


it also has zenith carbs on it,

if it's got zenith carbs and the emmison bits it could very well have come out of an LDV van or ambulance
probably 8.35:1 compression
thats stamped on the block next to the dipstick tube along with the engine number which will tell you where it came from

definitely need the engine no as Bodger says. If it is from an LDV, then the water pump / crank pulley is about 1 inch shorter than a Range Rover one, which might be worth something to somebody.

it turns out it's from a range rover 9.35:1 1970-83

engine number is 11D03526A

it's going in an mgbgt
