Hub Disassembly

Trying to disassemble the hubs on my Defender...

The brake drum is off; hub cap is off; the circlip has been removed; the six bolts retaining the driving member have been removed...

According to the shop manual, I'm supposd to be able to remove the driving member and joint washer... but I can't get the thing off.

There is no mention of any special tool necessary or any particular process required to get it off.

Anyone have experience with this? :x

Got a pic?
I've never had a go with a Defender drum brake system, but on Series drum brakes and newer discs, you just have to remove the bolts holding the drive flange to the hub, then lever it off. I tend to get a sharp chisel and drive it into the gap a bit at a time, turning the hub to get an even pull.

Yeah, I managed to get it off last night.

...it required a prybar, a block of wood, a small sledge, and a number of good whacks.

No way to drive anything between the hub and drive member... no gap to speak of.

Just had to try and spin it free (as the stub axel was still inside).

Thanks for the advice though.

Cheers,
