v8 starter motor question

hi my v8 startet motor gets very hot is this normal if not any ideas as to why thanks

something is wrong, its either stuck on making it get hot or there is a short in it, either way unless its getting heat from a close header or something your looking at swapping it out. Do it sooner rather than later as I have seen overheating starters cause fires before.

i will get wiring checked out as it in a mk1 zodiac so the orignal wiring has been alterd

Are we talking, its getting hot when cranking, or Its getting hot when not in use??
What engine are we using??

hi 3.5 rover v8 auto bw65 it starts fine,not hot when cranking, but hot after journy and sometimes it wont start untill lt cools down, you can press the starter button and nothing happens the starter has just been reconditioned
