Fuel fittings: sealant

There wasn't any as std, but would you use some? I'm inclined to, don't want to repeat this particular job (fuel tank in/out) if poss...
Any suggestions for a fuel-proof sealant if so?

If it is on taper threads, use a couple of wraps of PTFE tape, but go sparingly, and only where the threads meet, not all over the fitting, else you might lose bits inside the fuel system.
I've seen guys use twenty wraps of the stuff, and most of it is left outside the joint, or inside.....
Don't use it on parallel threads, as it is useless then.

Cheers Paul, good stuff.
I found some fuel proof sealant, was hard to track somethng down oddly but Loctite 577 liquid seems to be suitable.

Isn't stuff like hylomar (spl) ok to use on fuel ? i know silicone breaks down, but there are some indstant gasket ones that are ok

Blue Hylomar is fuel proof I think, but thought it a bit thick & sticky (much like myself), so wanted a proper thread sealant. Don't think it's really needed on this as it happens but I just want to do this the once & be sure, short on time...

A book that I've got suggests "sealastic" but I ain't got a clue what it is or where you get it from!
