3.9 hotwire efi wiring questions

hiya all,

Been converting my westfield seight from flapper to hotwire efi.

Engine now running, but i have 2 unanswered questions.

1. the efi warning light wire (black/yellow) from the ecu, then to the light, then does this go to earth?.

As the range rover haynes manual shows this goes to a (white) positive lead from the light.

so which is it earth, or positive, dont want to frazzle my new set up.

2. the manual sense resistor wire (orange/black) from the ecu to a 510ohm resistor, do i just wire the other side straight to earth.

many thanks for any help.

Scott,

Not to sure on the ecu warning light - yet to wire mine up , but as far as the mannual sense resistor goes I wired it straight to earth - everything seems to work ok on mine.

cheers

hiya,

Are you sure this wire goes to earth and not to the a positive wire.

as here is a check from the range rover v8 manual

129. On models fitted with a manual gearbox, check the gear switch signal as follows. With the ecu multi plug connected and ignition on connect a voltmeter between pin 34 and earth.
A reading of between 1.4 and 3.5 volts should be obtained, and this takes into consideration the gearbox resistor of 510ohms.

And the wiring diagram from the range rover show a live feed from a white/red wire from the ignition swtich.

any ideas, how much difference this make if its not wired up.

thanks again

Hmmm, will double check, and post back

Hi There
Standard Rover wiring colours White with red trace is +12v to starter solenoid.
This tells the ecu its cranking.
Would think you need it.
White wire is always +12v ignition feed. the ecu pulls up to 12v on the warning lamp and it goes out as 12v -12v =0v.
No experience of the tune resistor though.
Hope this helps.

hi i did this to my racer a few weeks ago earth the 510 ohm resistor to a very good earth mine fired up on the first key turn
