What would you guys do?

My capri, needs to go, its in the way.

How do I do it? Reduce it to component form and junk the shell or carry on trying to sell it complete.

Each way has pro's and con's.

1. MORE MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I break it up that is. I watched an axle sell for over £500 the other day!!!! And mine has new bearings and a 2.0 ratio so could be worth more maybe!

2. I've had it so long I'd feel really really bad if I scrapped the shell!

3. Moving a shell with no wheels? My garage is accessed by a small drive and the turning area is small so it'd be an absolute nightmare to do, AGRO!

4. Time to do the above two items is lacking.

5. ALOT MORE MONEY SOONER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dilemna no 2.

My porker.

As it says in my sig shall I ls1 it or charge the present engine.

Charging the present engine means 222rwhp at 7psi but the blower is barely working and has upto 28psi available. A lower comp engine at a later date would make more power available later on BUT its not a v8 BUT it would remain a practical everyday car if driven sensibly and the kit is a plug and play system.

Ls1. The kit from renegade hybrids isn't 100% suitable for a rhd car. I'd need to remake one engine mount, make some manifolds and of course its alot of work to get it in there and would surely wouldn't be an everyday car with that in it plus would it be too much engine? I don't want a mental psycho car that trys to swap ends when I think about giving it some gas if ya know what I mean. But it is a v8!

Both methods would cost approx the same although the first would be alot lot quicker and easier to do. Really very easy infact to bolt that in there and wire up the a/f controller they supply with it whereas the ls1 would be a pain in the ass and a long time to do.

What would you do?

cant say what to do with the Capri but your whole idea of doing the 944 was you wanted a reliable smooth factory type car with no messing such as you would get fitting a standard LS. If you go the blown route you would be as well continuing with your Capri as your going to end up with the same old hassles which you claimed you didn't want. Course there is always the ultimate reason to go V8 which is you will get kicked out of here if you don't

Errr what if I popped into halfrauds and got some "v8 look" engine covers and maybe an "engine noise simulator box" for the 4 banger?

Renegade kit is overrated and over priced, they only jsut sorted the sump out for the ls1 2 years ago, they exhaust system is pants and the mounts need jigging to fit. Why bother, it's a porsche
there are other conversions for much less and work a lot better. As for the Capri, you need to out it whole, then it's gone, out of sight and money in the bank, seeing money in bits and pieces never works if your trying to do a project, you need a sum of money to draw on when YOU need it, not when it's available. IMHO

The capri went as a rolling chassis after I sold of all the engine bits. I'm certain I made more that way!

I've heard the same thing about the RH kit, I'd have extra complications as mines a right hand drive car so I looked up other conversion.

There's various supercharger kits available for the various 944 engines so I was looking into the one for my 2.5 motor. It's would've been a pain int he mapping dept as the yank kit for it was for a yank car with 9.5:1 c/r whereas mine is a 10.5:1 c/r so that put a downer on that so I came up with another option and that was to put a 968 engine in.

3.0, I4, 16v, variable valve timing, forged internals and a very sorted efi system resulting in 240 bhp. Maybe a bit more with a decent pipe and filter on it.

So I now have one, arrived saturday! It was 2k though but should be a safe bolt in job with minimal grief and with my 2.5 gearbox and low gearing should go very well plus seeing sa they're so strong the charger kit for these gives 300rwhp! Thats much later down the line though if at all.

Nope no problem. It started off going v8 but not anymore now so I thought I'd update this thread to show the original dilemna is resolved.

And guys, yes I know I'm not a v8'er anymore but I must stress to you that despite that I'M NOT GAY NOW!!!

I will return to v8'ing as I've always always wanted a Z28 Camaro, the square one and now I have an excuse!

I have a few so that should even it out
