Clutch release bearings...

I am about to start fiddling around swapping engines again so figured it would be a good idea to change the clutch while i am at it - i have a new driven plate and a good pressure plate already sorted, but i am now in a quandry over what release bearing to use....
I can't remember which type i have fitted... i think it is the self centering sort... but it has been a while since i was grovelling around in there. Does anyone know the difference between self-centreing and non-self-centering clutch plates and release bearings and whether the release bearings are interchangeable one way or the other? I am trying to assemble all the parts i need before i start the job to speed the completion so need to order the bearing before i can get the old one out.
This is all fitted to a SD1 type engine and bellhousing.
