Hello,

I have a vauxhall firenza that i'm restoring and it used to be a track/race car many many moons ago (20+ years ago) and i'm trying to identify the engine that's in it.
It has the later type crank seals and not the rope type.

It's a 3.5 v8. The engine /compression ratio numbers doesn't seem to match up with anything that i could find on the internet and from doing some light work to the engine to get it up and going, i found that it's had some modifications which i'll list below with pictures. I'd appreciate if someone could tell me what the engine was originally from / what company had worked the heads (stamping id below) / what camshaft is it? any information is much appreciated.

The engine number: 9:25.1 1 A29504 (stamped on the block on the block under the passenger exhaust manifold)
passenger side head stamping: CM 19A3 350026
Drivers side head stamping: CM 22N2 350026
Camshaft: purple line on it and stamped on the rear JE101
Heads look to have been ported and polished and the inlet port height is 40mm and width 25.1mm ( i have some standard SD1 carb heads with inlet ports measuring height 36mm and width 23mm).

I'm not sure if the heads have bigger valves or not as i've not had the heads off, but if anyone has info on the heads/cam and engine numbers, i'd really appreciate it.

Regards
James

The head type is written in the middle of the head under the rocker covers
