TVR 350i Rebuild

Hello everyone

I'm currently rebuilding my 350i Wedge engine and have got to the point where I need to start thinking about camshafts, so far I've had the following done:-

Heads skimmed and cleaned
Block faced and cleaned
Crank reground
Flywheel faced and lightened slightly

I also be using an Edlbrock 500 with Offenhauser manifold.

As the car is predominantly for road use I can't decide which cam to go for and which ones are designed for a carb as opposed opposed to the original flapper injection, my current thinking is to go for a high torque one to give lots of low down power rather than making it too peaky.

Any advice on this would be appreciated.

Surely on a TVR, you don't want a stump puller cam?

Rover V8's aren't lacking in low down torque - they are lacking in higher RPM power - I would personally choose a cam to wake it up higher up the rev range like 2000-6000 range.

I used the standard 3.9 cam in my SD1 EFI. Although the MegaSquirt helped the bottom end a great deal over the flapper injection. But it still does that 'lift up the skirts' feeling above about 3500 rpm.

Thanks for the replies chaps and point taken, the reasoning behind me thinking about a 'stump Puller' cam was because these engines struggle to make power at the top end without an awful amount of head work to enable a high bhp cam to work properly, but I'm open to all suggestions. So if I go for a "fast road" type cam, which ones will work with my choice of carb and without having to pocket the pistons. Thanks again :D
