shortening adjustable pushrods

hello all,

My 4.6 block as been through some major work, the deck has been skimmed and I'm now going to be using 1mm thick head gaskets.

So looking at a dry assembly of the head, tappets & rocker assembly, my adjustable push rods look so close to the bottom nut, so not really leaving any room for major bottom length adjustment.

Was thinking of making them smaller in length by 4-5mm, as threes still loads of adjustment in the screw part to make up for this.

Presuming I can remove the bottom ball end and remove the amount required in a lathe?

anyone done this?.....or am I about to do more worse than good?

cheers

scott

I've shortened several sets of adjustable pushrods, its no big deal but be aware that there is an internal step that you might need to drill a little deeper.

cheers,

as mine are already assembled, I gather I can just knock out the lower ball end, with a bit of care.

Might be worth while checking for correct push rod length before I do anything major......

a job for later, I think, but least I know it can be done.

cheers
