Clutch question

My current plan is to use a Short Bellhouse R380 from Ashcroft Transmissions:
http://www.ashcroft-transmissions.co.uk ... -r380.html
along with an adaptor ring (the sort that have been around for donkeys years in the Land Rover world to fit a V8 to a series transmission).
My issue will be finding a clutch and cover plate to go inside that bellhousing that will take up to 300BHP.
Has anybody done this?
Can I fit a 10.5" clutch?, or just a 9.5"?
Are there good enough 9.5" clutches?
How does one go about sorting out things like release bearing / slave cylinder etc?
Any advice gratefully received.
Thanks
Chris.

What vehicle is it going in? That box in your link is a 4X4 box with the long output shaft to fit the LT230 transfer box.
If it's going in a 2WD vehicle you will need some sort of tailshaft housing with a bearing, seal and the gubbins to attach your propshaft to, if the spline will accept a propshaft flange.

I use a Helix clutch and pressure plate, it is either a 3 or 4 puck friction plate. (I can't remember now!) I'm sure that its a 9.5 jobbie. My 4.6 knocks out about 400 BHP when the NOS is running. The only thing I would say about 'puck' clutches are that you can get some judder just as it starts to bite. Oh, they are bloody expensive too!

Project is for my Landie. So it is a 4x4 application.

Chris
I use a McLeod twin plate clutch and an Ali flywheel which is good for 500 bhp plus
Not heavy at all even in start stop traffic

McLeod's website seems a bit hard to follow to find out what I need.
But AP Racing do one for Triumph TR8 which I presume is what I need, I'm just not sure it's up to the job.
How does one (for example) spec a McLeod clutch kit?
And also am I right in thinking that my Thor V8 flywheel will need redrilling for a 9.5" clutch?

Got you, thanks! What are you after? Speed or crawling?
If speed, try to find an early Rangie Classic Automatic LT230 Transfer Case, it has the 1,03:1 ratio and stretches a LAndy's legs a bit more.

I am going to run with the R380 (with the tallest ratio possible), then the Borg Warner chain drive transfer case which doesn't give me any ratio options. But it does allow me to run with ABS and traction control......

The Borg Warner T/C is a left side output box, so unless it's going in a Range Rover, you will need some serious diff modifications.
If you are going R380, rather try to find an early RR Classic LT230 Transfer Case, it has the best ratio option.
Alternaitvely, Ashcroft sells the 1:1.003 gearsets to mod yours.
The V8 version of the R380 has the highest 5th gear ratio.
If you do find an early T/C and still want the B/W, let me know, I will have an Auto box and T/C from my P38 coming out sometime.
Pity the postage would cost more than the car cost me, though....

I have considered the LT230 with the 1.003:1 ratio set (as you say, Ashcrofts do them). But I will be using ABS and traction control, which I believe was only fitted to vehicles with the chain drive transfer box. So I might as well stick to it for simplicities sake......!
There was a chain drive transfer box for the RR Classic, which is the other hand to the P38 one. I have one at the moment which I removed from the Landie, and I will probably re-use it, just mount it up to the R380.

My Disco 2 has ABS and Traction Control and it has the R380/LT 230 combo.
They're part of the famous 3 Amigos warning light issue....
