hi guys,

i am just in the process of stripping the rv8 thats fitted to my westfield. Prior to my ownership, it has had quite a lot of mods done to it, but some im not 100% sure on.

So first question is regarding the timing chain, the notes with the car say crower cam and timing gear. I've taken a picture below.

there seems quite a bit of stretch on the chain, but,

what would be classed as excessive? is there an amount of deflection considered the maximum?

also can anyone identify from the pictures of this is upgraded or crower timing gears/chain?

thanks in advance.

that is a stock chain from the look of things, just upgraded with a steel gear instead of the original nylon one. A replacement chain and sprocket set is cheap enough and well worth fitting looking at that chain. Or upgrade to a proper twin row roller chain and matching sprockets.

Most certainly stock chain.
Just helped a mate do a chain and sprocket swap.
Cloyes do a matched set for about £65.00 if I remember correctly.
