I think the P6 box is a little bit longer than an LT77.

well its not got the best set of ratios in the world.
i did have a P6 gearbox and LT77 side by side at one point... I havent got the p6 box anymore so cant check for you... sorry.
Seriously though... the P6 box would be the LAST thing I would want to use. The changes are very sloppy for starters with quite a long travel.
Get yourself an LT77 or an R380 you will be so disapointed with a P6 box.

bide your time!
I got an lt77 and v8 bellhousing + clutch bits for sixty quid.
Bargains are out there.
why not buy a couple of cheap ones on ebay and make one good one out of two or three?

its all a little confusing is the lt77 the box out of a sd1 is it the same as a range rover one can you ditch the transfer box what does the lt77 and r380 come out of
and as for making one i am not that talented

not really as there are a good few parts different so its not as simple as unbolting the transfer box. 2wd lt77 and r380's aren't just in an Sd1 though, they are in Sherpa vans for one which are common place in scrap yards. Gearstick position from one of them could be spot on for a Siera too.

is this any sherpa van and does the v8 bell housing just bolt up to it

don't know what the newest sherpas use but the older ones yes it will be either an lt77 or R380 and the bellhousing just bolts on. There are V8 sherpas though, ambulances and the like that are obviously straight bolt on.
