Can anyone recommend a company to get some headers ceramic coated, I have looked at Zirtec and one other just wanted to know who else is out there doing this.

Camcoat and Zircotec are the only ones I have heard about but I can not offer any recommendations.

Zircotec are about £480 and Camcoat are £230, thats a big difference

My headers (mild steel) were brand new when they were coated by Camcoat, it lasted a couple of years before it started to fall off. Other people on the Cobra forum have had the same experiance.

Same thing happened to mine,started to flake off,and in some places rust came through

And if the parts arent brand new, pretty sure cost is even higher, with more risk of it falling off.


It can look good, but it doesnt always last forever and it certainly isnt cheap.

I did start to look into getting my headers ali sprayed, I know that this would not keep the heat away from the engine bay like the Camcoat finsh does but it would at least stop the MS headers which took me a long time to make from rotting away. I never got far with the ali spray option but I'm sure that it can be done.

My headers are stainless so they should in theory not have the same issues with corrosion etc.

Camcoat will do internal and external so you are getting 2 coatings where as the other one is a single coating.

My old mild steel headers that Overfinch fitted were ceramic coated and apart from the rot from the inside were not too bad to look at and they were fitted in 2000.

I had mine coated inside and out,still rusted !
My car does live outside though,I had a set flame painted,lasted for years !
Now gone stainless,and wished I did years ago,

I would never use camcoat again

"Flame painted"...is that spraying with aluminium?

I had my headers coated inside and out by Camcoat and have never had a problem with them
Still look fine to me

Are they stainless or mild steel, mine are stainless and the reason I want to do it is to lower the under bonnet temperature.

It certainly will lower the under bonnet temperature, its just the durability of Camcoats version of the stuff that I found to be a problem. My pipes were coated inside and out. My car being an open top with no hood does not even see rain if I can help it.

Cheers for that, I think I'll look at getting the outside coating of the Camcoat stuff blasted off and replaced with aluminium.
