Can a R380 (2wd) gearbox run a leccy speedo. Are there VSS options.
Want to convert from cable driven ( not accurate in any way in my situation ) to leccy with universal Autometer gauge.
Thought about those GPS speedo's but they are way beyond my budged.
If so, what do I need.
Regards JP.

didn't the vandenplas and vittesse use an electronic speedo?
If so could you not use one of those in the R380 box?

Pretty sure all S2 SD1 had electronic speedos. But the senders ain't the most reliable of devices - they're a sort of hall effect. I'm on my third, although mine is an auto, so may not be the same electronics.

Some of the later (automatic) Range Rover classics had a speedo cable coming from the gearbox into a converter unit which generated the electronic pulses to drive the instruments. I have this on my Landie to allow me to run Rover SD1 instruments (speedo + trip computer) from the Borg Warner transfer box.
You could potentially get a cable made up to drive this little box. I have no idea however if it will drive your choice of speedo. But it does drive all of the Austin / Rover / Land Rover ones of that era.

Range Rover Classic ( 92 - 95 ) Speedo Transducer Partnumber AMR3386.
And speedo cable PRC6320 from box to transducer ( after some google ).
How to wire this tranducer ??

I swapped the LT77 for an R380 in my SD1 and just refitted the transducer. The speedo goes up and down in relation to road speed as I'd expect
