Has anyone replaced the 6v coil with a 12v one?Is it as simple as removing the ballast resistance wire and replacing it with a regular piece in the loom?Cant get hold of a 6v one locally and I have a Bosch 12v transistor coil lying around.

Does the '85 SD1 have a 6V coil?, I thought it had an ignition amplifier by then and a 12V coil.

What does the rest of the system look like?

Chris.

My '84 SD1 has a 12 volt coil, no ballast and leccy ignition. if yours is the ally box with the coil strapped on it then it's the same as mine. there are some piccies and info in the 'lectrics forum.
