EFI inlet manifold

Couple of questions.

I'd like to use a later EFI inlet manifold (from a hotwire) to get rid of that silly heater pipe which runs under my SD1 one. But the manifold I've got has no thermostat - just the housing. Can I fit a normal one to that? Or is there an in-line type I could fit to the top hose?

It also has a temperature sensor in the fuel rail - is that of any use with a MS3X?

I thought all those manifolds were supposed to have the 'stat in there, and it was only with GEMS that the 'stat went into the bottom hose.

I guess if there is a thermostat bypass circuit, it will be OK.

If you are doing away with that pipe that runs under the manifold, what are you replacing it's function with?

Chris.

There is a heater hose connection on the side of the manifold, rather than underneath as on the SD1. So I'd run a second pipe alongside the existing return one.

I suppose it's possible it's a GEMS manifold - what differences are there between that and hotwire?

Some old French cars used a stat you shoved up the inside of the top hose. I used one years ago

eg this type of thing

DaveEFI,
I have some photos of my heater set up with the Hotwire manifold that does not use the under manifold pipe.
I have never been able to load pictures on this forum, so if you PM me your email address I will forward them to you.
Andy.
