Does anyone know if the 4.8 stroker kit is still available for the 2 bolt main/small diameter bearing Rover V8?
Does anyone have any experience of the conversion?
Cheers
Nick

I did that same conversion some years ago. I struggled to find a supplier and eventually John Eales made me one up, wasn't too bad price-wise too, compared to the price of realsteels kit

In a word, Yes. With the throttle bodies and a very mild cam The engine made 307 Hp at one of Pels RR days :-)

That's pretty impressive.I spent a load on tuning a 4.6 and it still only made 260bhp.

Sidecarbod on here has a 4.6 that is pushing 300 bhp or close to it, maybe he can give you some pointers??

My 4.6 does indeed make around 300 BHP, the last time that I had it on the rollers it was making around 285 but I've done a fair bit more to it since then, my seat of the pants dyno reckons that there is easily another 15 BHP so I'm calling it 300!

(It makes another 100 BHP when the NOS is running!!)

My lump runs 10:1 CR, V8 develpments stage III heads, a Piper 285 cam degreed in with vernier gears. I run adjustable pushrods and I have carefully set the preload to 20 thou on all valves. I run a port matched Edelbrock manifold and an Eddy 500 carb that has been carefully recalibrated using an LC1.

I got a BIG improvement in the top end BHP (above 5k) by running a programable MSD system, I removed all of the internals so that the dizzy is 'locked out', I made a new baseplate and fitted an MSD pickup that is triggered by the standard Lucas trigger wheel.

I also run 1+3/4" headers which are around 30 inches long which run into two sidepipes. (The car is a Cobra replica).

I think that it is quite possible to get more than 300 BHP from a 4.6 with a better induction system but the Eddy manifold is what I had when I built the engine!

My 4.6 was built by John Eales and had big valve heads, piper 270 cam and an edelbrock inlet manifold/500cfm carb.I had it in a Westfield and made it go like stink.
The idea behind the 4.8 is that it is going in a Land Rover 110 where torque will be be more important.
