Dear all
I have seen this issue discussed in the pass by a fellow forum member who also put a 383 chevy into a defender - I am looking for an exhaust header that fits without too much hassle. The chassis rails are the main problem- have not tried any yet - but real steel will never t allow me to return headers even if unopened! Need a min of 13/4 primaries for my apication - pref full length! But am flexible! Any body got any for sale or for loan to mock up by any chance??

I am sure I have read somewhere that the headers for a Chevy K5 Blazer will fit in the Defender, might be worth looking at them for a start

Yes it was me who fitted 1979 chevy blazer headers into my Classic Range rover with a sbc. I initially bought some shorty headers and they simply foul the front diff on the drivers side.
The engine came with some headers and they looked like they would never fit, but much to my suprise the bolted straight on and cleared the chassis.
There was a guy on pistonheads who did the same thing based on my experience, one side cleared and the other side was too wide and needed to modify them to tuck between the rails.
So either his engine is not fitted in the middle of the rails or mine isnt!

I paid £400 for that lot, including a TH350, A flymo and a bottle of C02 - poor bloke got divorced, wife scrapped his blazer that was mid restoration and was left with the above that need shifting pronto..

As they say, if its got wheel or tits - it's going to cost you...
