Gents.
I am looking to replace the standard 4syncro box on my MGB with one of the above.
I am not looking to upgrade the engine past 200bhp and it will probably not go past the 170-180 I already have. I am removing the uprated suspension I recently fitted and the plastic bushes as the car now rides too hard and is not enjoyable for touring. I have a Quaife diff fitted.
What would you recommend for an easy reliable box that would enable me to cruise at as low revs as possible. 8)
I am on my second MGB box and this one is whining already.
I am working on a budget so cost will be a factor.
All advice would be gratefully received.
Regards
Dave

I guess the LT77 is the obvious choice, cheap, easy fit, good for approx 250lbs. The one in my Victor lasted 9 yrs and thousands of miles before getting grumbly, behind a slightly warm 3.9 230-240hp and not treated too gently.
Would have thought the T5 is the expensive option as you don't need it for coping with hp/torque etc.

The R380 or LT77 would be the cheaper and easier options.
But if you want tall gearing, the T5 may be better.
I think the LT77 has a 5th of something like 0.8, but my T5 (from a Mustang) has a 5th of 0.68, which with my 3.09 diff, and 205/55R15 tyres equates to about 33mph/1000rpm.
Newer T5's have a slightly taller 5th.

I would go R380. It's better than the LT77 (well, it's newer so it should be!)

R380 gets my vote as it has a better gear shift. Though an LT77 would be entirely adequate and cheaper. Alex
