Costello Weber carb setup

Looking at some photos of an original carb set up on a Costello, it used a single DCOE mounted toward the rear of the engine and feeding the air / fuel mix forward. Was this viewed as a good set up or a bit too out there?

It worked just fine. And the original twin SU's facing forward worked fine as well

Thanks Perry,
OK, just a thought. What about a modified setup that used twin webers instead of twin SU's for my modified 4.6. Maybe this set up could be on a single or dual plane 4 barrel manifold. Potentially this could fit under a stock MGB hood / bonnet.
Anyone done this, or know someone who has done this........Thoughts / opinions anyone.
Cheers, Graeme

You can spend £1000's on re inventing the inlet setup mate.
The single Weber was ok. The twin SU's were ok. There are manifolds available for multiple throttle bodies as well.
I guess you are not after originality? So the next option is a low profile manifold and a Weber 500 I guess.
Let us know what your goal is for the engine? If you want to go radical then maybe think about fitting a a 4 barrel throttle body with high pressure fuel delivery to EFI fuel injectors in the body??
ie. EZI EFI type systems.

Thank Perry, you make a very good point. To optimise the induction system without going full EFI a throttle body efi system might very well be the way to go.

Its something I have pondered recently ??

Perry,
I stumbled across Alfa 33 1.7 DellOrto throttle bodies while rummaging around the Fleabay Motors site a while back. 4 of those on a nice manifold should get things breathing nicely....
