Quad weber steel inlet manifold - any good?

This has popped up, seller says it has no brand marks on it and it looks like it has been ceramic coated? It's also steel, not aluminum.

I was thinking of buying it for the "one day" motor in my head, but I'm not sure whether I should hold out for an aluminum one. There's one for sale for only a few hundred dollars more.

and will it bolt up to a 4.6?

The bends (if you can call them that) into the ports look......awkward.

Ths certainly may not help fuel atomization at lower air speeds and restrictive at higher air speeds. HTH Graeme

Hi
I would hold out for the ally one if I were you. That will not flow well, there is more to a manifold than just joining the carbs to the heads with the tube you have lying around the garage and really that is all that set up does. I would grab any down draught ally manifold that comes up at a good price, they are not common.
Best regards
Mike

thanks chaps, yeah I didn't like some of the sharp corners either.

this is the aluminum one. A lot of coins for something that may sit on my shelf for years until I find a cheap 4.6 block

Hi
that is cheep for one of those, even if you had to pay to import it into the UK and pay duty and vat on top. . . you don't have to do any of that. . . However if you are on a budget why are you thinking of sticking £2400 of webers on top of the engine? A budget engine will do fine on a pair of SUs or stock injection with an aftermarket ECU?
Best regards

Hey Mike,

yes, you make absolute and total sense, but one day I'd like to build a two door wide body P6b with throttle body style EFI and a manifold like that would be perfect.

I just know that I'll pass up on that aluminum manifold and then circumstances will change and I'll kick myself for not buying it!

Buy it! If you come to your senses in 6 months and decide you did a good thing, then well done. If you wake up in a cold sweat thinking you made a total tool of yourself, then have it soda blasted to look new and flog it on. Those things aren't getting any cheaper and you will get your money back.

The alloy on is also the orientation of the carbs I would expect to see. The
steel one has the carbs with an unconventional spacing.

Man that is cheap.

If I would fit quad webers under a stock MGB hood / bonnet then you might have some competitive bids :D

If it doesnt work out my uneducated guess is that you would always get your money back on something like that in the future.

Cheers, Graeme

The dog leg on that setup is the kiss of death!
