K&N filters and SU HS6 needles

Found a thread on here a while ago via google (can't find it now) with a guy who had put K&N's on a 3.5 Landy with SU HS6's and used 4.5oz springs with BAF needles and said he had good results.
Firstly, is that guy still out there and did it carry on working ok?
Secondly, my Rover 3500 runs BAF needles as standard so if I changed to K&N's from paper filters I would in theory need a richer needle.....
....but if the Landy guy had good results with BAF needles then not sure what to think.
I do not want to re-invent the wheel, its all been done by people far more experienced than me. Has anyone got any definitive answers for the right needles to use with K&N's on HS6's? They have to be fixed needles, not swingers.
Finally, would a camshaft change affect things further? Standard at mo but looking to go Kent H180 or H200 in the future - modest power increase I know but right I think for a road-going only automatic.
Sorry for all the newbie questions and cheers for any help.
