ARP head bolts?

I am now in a position to fit my heads on the 4.6. C/R is 10:1

Is it going to be a road going car and limited to 5000 rpm.

Would you guys use ARP bolts or just standard head bolts?

Has anyone got a old used set I can use? I want to dry build the heads up so that I can check piston/valve clearance before I bolt it all down properly.

thanks Mark

For your application I would use standard stuff.

Thanks Perry. I was hoping that was the answer.

I will go for ARP studs..
Less stress for block thread.
I´t will reduce craking symptons.
Those STD 4.6 torque settings are bad for aluminium.. First 90deg is approx 100Nm, and you wont need anymore.. I have been build many cross bolted engines and i usually torque those heads at firs 90deg, and thats it. And they run without head gasket issues..

That's good to know,
I didn't realise studs with longer threads were available off the shelf.
I extended the threads on my ARP's by 10mm as I have had one pull out previously. It was probably due to a duff thread in the block but I have always been half convinced that the ARP thread length was borderline and more suited to a cast iron Block.

yes.. he has them made special for the Ali blocks... so they go close to full depth....
they are also cheaper than ARP and very good quality ;)

only down side is they didn't have any Allen-Key hole in the end (although he did say the next batch would have it)... so I put a slit in the end of mine before fitting so I could remove them if required ;)

Seems like Jim. I am going to call J Eales to see what they offer.

Sorry to thread hijack, but does John Eales also have mains studs too? If I recall from my last build, the ARP mains studs don't use the whole thread length either.
