Similar to sleeve valves used by Daimler near a century ago?

What do I think. . . . pointless to be honest. Pretty much a desmodramic set up in that it replaces springs with a mechanical linkage but it is much heavier and will have a much higher friction loss and how long do you think the rings on those upper pistons will last. I can see elements of sleeve valving in there and the phasing of chamber volume you get in a deltic engine, but to be honest pointless.
best regards
Mike

To much weight and to much moving parts.

Great for mashing and cooking potatoes at the same time.

looks very much like the engine Noel Edmonds promoted when he was presenting Top Gear (that's a long time ago). IIRC he got into quite a bit of bother with it at the time. It was promoted as a very efficient engine but the prototype engine in the car that the engine was supposed to be in was a hoax.

Anyone else remember?
