Polished Aluminium - To lacquer or not?

Guys,

The wheels I have on the P6 are the SD1 Vitesse type and have gunmetal centres with a bare naked polished aluminium rim. I have until now just been washing regularly, and waxing the polished bit which seems to work pretty well.

I am thinking of freshening up the wheels a bit, was wondering whether its worth lacquering them to save effort of waxing? Problem being that to my mind you normally need a key for the paint to stick to, and by definition a mirror polished surface doesn't have one.

Anyone have any experience/tips? Worth doing or not?

Cheers

I think it can be done, but I'd maybe enquire with proper wheel refurb guys.

Lacquering bare aluminium isnt an easy task from what I understand. At least not so it turns out well.

I always found it turns yellowish after a while.

Thats good enough for me! I will leave the rims polished and waxed, and not bother with the lacquer.

If they are easy to clean and maintain, it probably is the easiest option.

Otherwise get a professional to lacquer them
