How do you go about palleting stuff?

As above, have someone interested in a load of bits but he's miles away and wants me to pallet, never done it before what's involved? It's for a set of wheels/tres, rear axel and some brakes/hubs, not even sure it will fit on a pallet!

My basic understanding is that you get 1 standard pallet and the heap of stuff you want to send and you secure each piece onto the pallet using tie wraps, string, screws bits of wood, etc in such a way it will not come off when hit with a small truck/ fork lift/ big bloke. Once everything is in place you cover all really sharp edges/corners with foam/ cardboard and then take a big roll of industrial grage cling film and wrap it all over everything to make doubly certain it can't move. Everything has to be attached so it is within the boundry of the pallet when viewed from above and that is basically it.

In other words I can't be bothered! The guy lives in scotland and is moaning about the distance. Has asked twice for me to come and meet him despite the fact I told him I have no transport, and then offered 50% of the asking price anyway, the cheek!

Well whats a standard pallet.. Euro pallet sizes 120cmx80cm
Normal pallet sizes 120x80cm
Genuine Euro pallet has a deposit!!
You dont what goods hanging over the pallet, its extra costs and prone to damage.You don't want to know what happens in warehouses & cross docks.
Shipping costs (pallet) are normally based on regular pallet dimensions.
So a rear axle has to be standing up and fixed with some wood.

Take a photo of said items and give it to purchaser. Tell the purchaser to get a quote via

You need to say when you are available for the goods to be collected and whether driver needs a hand loading etc.

Something like Shiply is probably best bet, ie man with a van will turn up and combine the parts with another run
A pallet will be of no use to goods like that.
Then there is the payment issue....if the buyer isnt happy with the goods.

If he wants it badly enough, he will pay for it and ship it himself, IMO.
If he's already balking on price, I'd suggest walking away. This could end up with you being stiffed.

My thoughts exactly. I've never had an issue selling parts before. Had people drive from a far away as Sweden for parts!
He's given me the old 'on a budget' routine, but he knew the price from the start and I told him I was pretty firm, but he still offered me HALF what I wanted AND wanted me to meet him half way! Not even worth it for that lol

lol, Olly, mate, why are we even discussing this? If he offers the asking price and the shipping costs, that's when you worry about a pallet, otherwise he can go and blow himself

well, I knocked £150 off the asking price which is more than sufficient to make up for the extra 80 miles he'd have to drive. He can lump it or leave it.
