My mk1 cortina has rover v8 mated to BMW 4 speed auto. In an ideal world I would like to reuse the original cable drive speedo but know this might be a tall order
Any ideas on best thing to do
I don't know what gearbox it is exactly not sure how to tell

I cant find it right now, but there was a post I saw where a bloke bought a drive unit that connects to your speedo cable and takes a signal off the driveshaft to send to the motor which then supplies the correct signal to your speedo.
It's effectively an electric motor that drives your speedo instead of the gearbox.

Found a thing called a cable x from Abbott enterprises that sounds like the thing,wondering if there's something similar in the uk
