Scammed

I've been scammed over the weekend to the tune of nearly £350 - £400
The guy rings from wanted ads, claims he has them at a reasonable price, gives a name and address and asks for half up front and then when the parts are delivered you pay the remainder.

His real name is Robin Scott Butler and uses Miles Steadman, Douglas, and a handful of other aliases.
He was released from the clink in October following a 21 month stretch for doing exactly the same thing.
Have a look on Rodsnsods for threads "have I been had over" and Douglas", all is there

Dunno, he's scanning wanted ads so could've been from here, nsra, eurodragster, rodsnsods and even pissed off heads.
Bank transfer, I have his bank details, I'm just bloody annoyed that after it happened several threads appear and a load of others have had it done in the last week. Normally I'm hot on these things but this one slipped through the net and I didn't see it on forums either. Gonna contact fraud squad as posted in other ads, the fuzz are onto him already (he is an ex con!!) but obviously not that smart to be doing it again.
Mind you, nor am I as I fell for it. W*nker.

Take him to court. It will cost you £80, but you can add that on to your 'winnings'.
No need for solicitors, just a couple of hours to fill out the paperwork.
Hmm, he's in Scotland, so I'm not sure how the legal system works up there

small claims is the same here but even if your awarded a win there is no guarantee of ever seeing your money. Being done before he will be well versed so will have dispersed/spent the money so technically unable to pay. Even more unlikely if/when they bang him up again.

When I won a county court judgement against somebody who was bankrupt, I was offered some options:
1. Demand full payment now (£700)
2. Demand installments
3. Send around the bailiffs.
In my case, the defendant was just a bankrupt businessman rather than a crook, so we got all our money back with the installments option. It took a couple of years of tiny installments, but it all came through.
But if the defendant had been a crook, I would have opted for the bailiffs option! This would be my option in this case.

You have to pay for the bailiffs and you can't get blood out of a stone - so you'd have to make sure he has assets they can seize. Not so easy as it sounds.

before xmas there where a pair of big valve 500 tvr heads on pistonheads and gumtree with pictures the lot! the guy who was selling them i found out was a scammer i very nearly got caught out with him and another guy from scotland advertising 3 cossy sierras breaking for parts he to was a scammer pigs like that cut there fingers off
