I'm putting an old Vanguard pickup cab on a Reliant Scimitar chassis, but with a Rover 3.5 V8 auto
Mild cruising use only.
Do folk think the 3L V6 rad could cope with the cooling demands of the V8

It can be a bit marginal even on the stock 3l to be honest. If its in good condition and you duct it properly it should be fine. A better option is to take it to a radiator specialist and get it re-cored with an upgraded core. All that said with the different body on it you could probably fit a better radiator all together in there as you wont have the same space restrictions.

Why not fit the body and mount the engine, then get the rad made to fit the space available?

I've decent space in the truck's engine bay, as I had to mount the V8 back a fair amount.
A Merc diesel sprinter van's rad will fit nicely, but cost is my problem !
I might try to use just to get MOTd and on the road, then save up a bit more.

Hi
I would stalk ebay if I were you, if you have plenty of room something like this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PWR-15-FPI-AN ... 2a264d72ea would be a bargin especially if you look for a while and set a budget not to exceed, they come up all the time and will seriously cool any rover lump.
Best regards
Mike
