Omegas

After a sundays racing up the Pod, I think its time to freshen up the engine, Its still running strong-------but on over-run its smoking out of the exhaust, the sump gasket is starting to leak and the catch tank is filling up far too regularly, Im thinking the rings are on their way, Compression test will be carried out tomorrow, and I am expecting to see the worst, they used to be 230+, I would settle for the 200s and leave the rebuild for next winter, hopefully its just going to need rings and a deglaze.
My main concern is, Where do I get rings for Omegas, JEs??? Knowing my luck, they will be hard to get, or can I get Total Seal rings for Omegas???

Ian :D

I dont think its terminal yet, as I was still running 12-7s, @ 108mph with a big headwind, best of all, the 60fts were really good, with a 1.66 being the best, cant complain as I am still on leaf springs :D :D :D

I was bored at work here so i phoned Omega up who said you need to phone JE Developments up who they get their v8 rings from. There's two JE's though i believe. . . . .

Ps, what happened to the planned scat cranked 302?

All expensive jobs have gone on hold for a while, so the ring job is a intirim phase, the reason for the hold on everything, is trying to save up for a new garage build, :D If plans go ahead, it may be a 37Msq double with a high roof, loft on one side for storage, TV and a fridge, and if the budget allows, a two poster on the other :D plus an extra 3 off road parking places, just to please the council

JE developments is of the John Eales fame http://www.rover-v8.com/JEEngineering/w ... endocument

the other JE is JE Engineering. Its John that used to do the 3.5-3.9 conversions and used omega pistons. I know he did my engine originally no idea if he did yours though.

Well I did a compression test today, and all is not well,

No1, dry 175, 200 wet,
No2, dry 180, 210 wet,
No3, dry 175, 210 wet,
No4, dry 185, 210 wet,
No5, dry 177, 215 wet,
No6, dry 175, 205 wet,
No7, dry 180, 205 wet,
No8, dry 210, 240 wet,

No8 is about what the original pressures were, so it looks fairly well knackered, lets hope I can get away with a set of rings, as Omegas are fookin expensive,

Watch this space Tony, it still ran a 12,6 with a shagged engine, whats it going to run with full compression------------------------------------11s??????

Well the news is getting worse, before I pull the heads I thought I would give JEs a call and find out about 94mm Omega rings, The new rings are now made of Unobtanium, therefore unavailable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, their soloution was to swop them for a set of RANGE ROVER pistons, errrrrrrr, nope, they dont do 11.5cr, so I may be in contact with Total Seal and see if I can get a set to fit,
