Clutch Release Fork Question

Hiya,
Just after a bit of confirmation here, as I think I know the problem but dont want to accept it..!!
I've recently put my engine and gearbox back in the car.. 3.9 rover block with and SD1 gearbox, aligned the clutch ok and bled the hydraulics.. However, there is no resistance in the clucth pedal and the clutch itself does not disengage. iv'e checked both master and slave cylinders and neither leak and the piston in the salve appears to be functioning normally..
I'm thinking that the clutch release fork has become displaced during the re-assembly, so it isnt engaging properly with the release bearing.. But wanted to ask if that was even possible and if anyone had any ideas?
or is the onoly way to fix it an engine out job?

can be a couple of things, assuming everything is stock,
A wiggle of the clutch arm should be an indication if it has detached, with the pushrod pushed right back, there should be very little play in the pushrod if you have there are a couple of options here, A bent clutch arm has net been unheard of, wrong pushrod, or the arm has become detatched,
If you have got the hydraulic ratios mixed up, you should really have a master cyl of the same bore as the Sdi, if you have the wrong ratio, you can get the slave not getting enough fluid transfer to disengage the clutch.

Did you fit the plastic clip that locates the push rod into the end of the release arm? If not then the push rod could have dropped out of the socket.
If it has you may be able to get it back into the socket if you remove the slave cylinder. It's tricky but possible.

Thanks for the info guys. I finally managed to get time to check it all out at the weekend.. Removed the gearbox, checked all the components and everything looked fine. Release fork and bearing were fully engaged and seated correctly.. no damage.. so was beginning to get confused until I compared my photos of the gearbox pre and post installation.. I'm thoroughly disgusted with myself.. I'd installed the slave cylinder upside down. Thinking about it, it makes sense, upside down it creates airlocks so it wasn't bleeding properly. When i tested it, I had the cylinder out of the car, so there was little or no resistance and it looked like it was working properly.. Anyway, put it back in the right way, re-bled and it its all fine now..!
