Rover 4.6 EFI in a Westfield

HI all,
I continue to have a problem with the idle "hunting". A recent change of MAF has made no difference. However, on the test run with the MAF, the engine cut out completely. It would then fire for half a second and cut out again. After about 5 minutes of fruitless attempts it suddenly started again!
Any ideas?
