Which clutch for LT77 into RV8 3.9

Hi,

I have an LT77 with bellhousing, but no clutch fork, etc. I'm mating it to my RV8 3.9 and want to replace the clutch while it is in bits on the floor.

I bought the wrong clutch kit on ebay (guy advertised it as RV8 3.5, but is is way too small), so thought I would go to RimmerBros for the fork, slippers, and clutch kit.

They tell me I need a fork for an SD1 - makes sense as the 2WD LT77 probably came from and SD1. BUT they are telling me I need an SD1 clutch kit, and not an RV8 3.9 clutch kit. Are they right or won't it actually matter. They say the splines on the LT77 won't fit the RV8 clutch plate - but they are wrong as my old clutch plate fits the LT77.

Last question is what is the difference between Self Centering and non-self centering clutch. I've read one is less noisy, but what else...?

Thanks!

Rover SD1 has a 9.5" diameter clutch plate

Range Rover 3.9 manual has a 10.5" clutch plate

You will need a rover SD1 clutch kit.

You will also need a SD1 flywheel to suit a 9.5" clutch, if your engine has a Range Rover/Discovery manual flywheel the clutch kit won't fit as it is drilled to suit a 10.5" clutch

I believe both vehicles have the same LT77 spline main shaft, but duifferent lengths to suit the bell housing

Thanks for the info. You are right, while the clutch plate and everything else fits the LT77 2WD gearbox the bellhousing is too small to fit over the larger clutch plate. So I've managed to get hold of a smaller (9.5") clutch plate and cover and also an SD1 flywheel.
Hopefully no more surprises ;-)
Thanks

Thankfully it all looks like it will fit - I won't know for sure until I bolt it all together at the weekend. I ordered the clutch lever and slippers from RimmerBros, and they advised the following clip:

"Release Bearing Retaining Clip"

I can't figure out where it goes... Any ideas, or did I waste the 60p ;-)

Thanks
