Hello All,
I was going through the shed the other day and found the Weber 44 IDF carbs that were fitted to my MX-5 when I bought it, I hadn't really noticed before but there seems to be two different types (two of each), does anyone know what the differences are or is it just a design update of some sort? I don't believe they were all bought at the same time.

I suspect that the top one has a choke/ mixture enrichment and the lower one has had id blanked off, not uncommon to have mixture enrichment on only some cylinders on a multi weber set up.
best regards

Thanks Mike.
A bit of a cheeky question but does anyone have an idea of the rough value of these? I have four of them (two of each type) and a home made manifold that was all fitted to the car when I bought it. At the moment they are just sitting in the shed, I'm not going to use them so I may as well sell them on to someone who will.

Where is your shed and is it alarmed? If not when are you next going out and I'll make them disappear.
I believe in good nick they are about £250 to£350 each on a proper manifold.
New with manifold and all connections about £2500, jetted to your motor cam etc
What sort of manifold doyou have and how much do I need my pocket lightened? What are the jets etc that are fitted?

Hi
Ian is about right for A1 condition or new carbs, fully matched and on a new branded manifold.
I suspect what you have is 2 pairs of alfa sud carbs on a home brew manifold, cleaned and overhauled I would say about £175 to £200 per pair and if as is more like £100 to £150 a pair. As for the manifold, really it is down to the design and workmanship and condition, if it is a one off. Somewhere between £100 to £450 but without pictures it really is a guess.
best regards

Thanks again for your replies gents, here's a pic of the manifold:
It's certainly homebrew and could do with some tidying up but appears decent enough, I don't think its ever going to make a hill of money on the open market though
Mike, I think you are probably about right when you talk about a couple of pairs of Alfa carbs as I seem to remember the previous owner mentioning he bought them over a period of time. I'm not sure how they are jetted TBH as they didn't have any trumpets or filters, so this would need setting up regardless. So I guess £300-350 for the lot would be about right?
