Megasquirt fault, any users on here?

I've posted the same question ont he ms extra forums however it seems like a slow moving place over there so i'm hoping one of you guys on here might know my answer.

"I've just finished nailing together my capris v8 and i'm now trying to start the bugger. But it won't.

I have x2 ford coil packs running wasted spark driven dirsectly by the ecu (v3 ms built by daxojeiro)

I've no spark. The injectors are firing away no problem when cranking, i've power to the coils whilst cranking (which drops to 9.9 - 10v when cranking) but no spark. I've tried a spare plug on each lead nd had no spark from any. I've rechecked all the wiring for the coils and its all correctly in place.

Where do i start checking now?"

Does anyone have any ideas? I really really really wanna get the bugger running this weekend as there's now't left to do!

I did think about that but i'd feel rude as he's probably a busy guy and i bought my ecu from Phil not Bill, cheeky like. Shall i risk it?

maybe a dumb question but you do have it switched on in the firmware?

Could you run it by me as to where that is again. . . . . .

I thought i had the lot software wise set up but i've never run ms controlled ignition before so i best check i've done that sode of things correctly.

my main thought was the output settings in basic settings/codebase output settings. You need to set the outputs up for spark a b c d. To be honest I cant really help you too much with it but this was an obvious mistake I could think of since I know you ran MS before but I didn't think you had used the spark.

i have gone thru all that earlier however i am very unsure of this side of things so i will recheck it to ensure its all good. I must confess to not fully understanding that side of things and have been relying on other peoples advice so i will learn it correctly tomorrow.

Ask Phil if it's been tested.

I recently assisted a mate with a Megajolt which didn't work properly and discovered that one of the components on the PCB had been fitted incorrectly. So it had never been tested (or if it had, it wasn't hooked up to an EDIS for the test).

Chris.

2 things
are you running the Ford EDIS system or driving the coils directly? If you're firing the coils directly then the msq I sent has the correct settings, ( but you'll need your trigger settings) if the EDIS then it doesn't.
Does the tacho give a cranking reading? if not then you may not be getting a signal from the VR sensor.

I found Phil to be very helpful, try phoning him.

Hmm, can't help with this one, but yet again Gav i can see myself in this position in a few months (although I keep saying that the dates keep slipping!).

I've decided to use EDIS as heard a few issues with direct drive.

Hi guys, yes i'm triggering the coils directly, the coils check out ok as does the wiring and crank sensor (the ecu recognises cranking as the injectors are firing) but after doing several things with the help of Bill (god in physical form that guy! Absolute star!) its either wiring (i need to recheck the ignition loom) or ecu as with a multi meter in the ecu side of the coil wiring (3 wires, centre is + and the other two our trigger wires from the ecu) i'm not getting any voltage reading at all like the coils aren't being grounded. I know you'd need a scope to measure that properly but a nulti meter should read something but i'm getting now't.

Phils is on his hols at the mo so he's uncontactable.

Just like a points setup, each VB921 grounds the negative side of the coil.

so with the ignition on, you should see 12v at each of the spark "outputs" on the MS connector for a,b,c& d.

I thought the centre pin should be showing 12v when ign on and the outer two of each connector should be 0v. This is with the connector disconnected?
