setting up flapper air flow meter

i took the top off my afm to find some one has tampered with the clockworks, is there any way i can set it up again?
Not easily - it's not supposed to be adjusted.
I guess one could hook up a Lambda Sensor + readout (e.g. Innovate LM1) and drive about making adjustments until the mixture was 14:7 at cruise......
Or get another one.
