Hi guys,
what stepper motor do i need for my plenum?
as been told there are a few different ones on the market and will need to get the correct one,
looks like my stepper has finally died, it was suspect with the old ecu.
originally it was a 3.9 hotwire setup,
we dont think its an o/e stepper i have here but a copy,

Pull the shaft out when you get it and ensure its the same length as the old one. If its not fit the old one

how will i know if i have the shaft back in the right place mate?
because mine if you unscrew the plunger shaft, you have to screw it right back in other wise if you power it up if fires the plunger out to the end of its thread and wont screw it back in,
just got some numbers off of mine:
it says 73312A then underneath that it says A1519
is this a pattern part?

forget this post,
i have been a cock (dont you dare say a word GM)
didnt realise with the MS2 that for the stepper settings to work you have to burn them to the ecu straight away
so looks like my stepper is ok.
would still like to know how you know if you have the plunger in the correct place though as mine spat it out the weekend when testing.

The ECU should work it all out for you. It moves the stepper to the minimum extreme to get a reference when it is powered up.

be careful ordering these steppers off ebay,
mine arrived today, and while fitting it the thread has sheared clean off the idle valve leaving the car stuck as need to strip the plenum off now to remove the sheared off thread

either that i need to find another stepper housing for the plenum so i can sort this current one out at a later date
