The 500 is now sorted and the car feels so refined. Gone down on the secondary jets to 92 with a rod change to 67x55 and pink springs. Runs very sweet best ever.( I dont think even fuel injection would improve it ).

The 600 was a bit more troublesome.
Started with a 95 primary but no matter which rods I couldnt get it rich enough at the bottom end.
Ended up with 98 primary with 62x52 rods and yellow springs.
Runs very well but doesnt seem as refined as the 500 carb but I think it will perform better on track.
Feels sort of lumpy at low revs which I suppose is due to the lack of airflow. However there are no flatspots and it pulls very well from midrange.

If you are tuning a carb A wideband setup is a must have item,I cant express how impressed I am with this gadjet.

Gonna run the 600 on track first then swap to the 500 later in the day for a comparison.
I still think the 500 is the best carb for the road but as im planning to increase the capacity in the future Im sure the 600 is the way to go for me.

Ive been doing a lot of testing and it seems the only difference between the 500cfm carb and the 600cfm carb is the Boost venturi ( page 4 of the Edelbrock owners manual).
I swapped boost veturi's and 500 jets which effectively turned my 600 into a 500.
So if you are thinking about upgrading to a 600 you might be able to order just the 600 boost venturi's and a calibration kit which has got to be a lot cheaper than a new carb.

Track day at Combe tomorrow hope it stays dry.
Now gonna try the 600 then the 500 and then the 600 with 500 Boost venturi and jets.

Will post results.

Well, Done 3 trackdays now and am using the 600cfm carb with the 500cfm boost venturies which basically are restrictors that speed up the airflow through the primaries.
The Missfire has gone completely and with the 92 secondary jets and 86 primarys with 67/55 rods the performance is very crisp.
If anything my AFR guage shows slightly rich at WOT have tried going down to 89 jets on the secondaries but it doesnt feel as good.
So now Im happy and can move onto other niggles.
